This is a 4-week fair trade workshop held on an idyllic Atlantic Ocean island.
An experience that is filled with the tradition and beauty of a small island village. Dancing and drumming in a clearing of mango trees, surrounded by the sounds of the ocean!
Camp Wontanara::GUINEA
*WONTANARA is a word in the Susu language meaning: WE ARE TOGETHER!*
Teaching Artists include: Members of Les Ballet Africains, Le Ballet de Matam, and Percussion Wassa of Guinea.
Classes are held Monday through Friday
Dance 4 hours/day & Percussion 3 hours/day
OR
Percussion & Accompaniment 7 hours/ day
Airfare not included. Participant is responsible for their airfare to Conakry.
COST: $1600 ($1500 if paid in full by August 22) Includes:
Dance/Percussion Classes.
RT ground/boat transportation between Conakry Airport & Roume Island.
Accommodation December 13, 2010 through January 7, 2011.
Meals (3 meals/day during the week & heavy brunches on the weekends).
Guided tour of Roume Island & its traditional village.

Classes in West African percussion & dance kick off at SHAKER SQUARE Between Deweys Coffee Cafe and CVS. Use the address 13201 Shaker Square, Cleveland 44120 to mapquest/ google.

Class cards:
Take all 10 classes for $100
5-class card (This card can be used for all 5 percussion classes OR all 5 dance classes OR mix & match): $65
Drop-in: $15/class OR $25 per person per day for both classes taken on the same day
Class cards are non-transferable/non-refundable and may only be used by one person. Expiration: September 28.

This is a GREAT class to get a little taste and a little workout:::
6:15-6:45PM: FREE/$5 donation (Pay what you can) Beginning West African Dance Class. This class is geared toward beginners, ages 8 and up--but ALL are welcome! A special thank you to MetroHealth for their generous sponsorship of our classes!
